INDUSTRIAL ARCHITECTURE

It was in the Swiss Jura town of La Chaux-de-Fonds, a watchmaking centre since the mid-18th century, that Constant Girard established the GIRARD-PERREGAUX Manufacture.

Today, the Brand's various activities are housed in a group of adjacent buildings on the south side of the town; together, they almost form a separate locality of their own!

HEADQUARTERS
Built in 1946, GIRARD-PERREGAUX's headquarters at Number 1 Place Girardet house the Brand’s management, many of its departments, and the GIRARD-PERREGAUX Haute Horlogerie unit. It is here that, after months of work, the hands of the master watchmakers give life to the Manufacture’s superb timepieces, among them the famous Tourbillon with Three Gold Bridges.

MANUFACTURE
The Manufactory’s premises were designed by the La Chaux-de-Fonds architect, Léon Boilot, and date from the beginning of the last century. The main building, an iron column and girder construction with a flat roof, was erected in 1904-1905.

The west wing was added in 1918, an admirable example of Art Nouveau. The town of La Chaux-de-Fonds boasts several outstanding examples of this style.

The monumental staircase in the west wing leads to all the various development and production departments: R&D, laboratories, movement, case and bracelet manufacturing, assembly workshops, etc.
