Henri Perregaux

(Le Locle 1828 - 1893 Corcelles)

Coming from a family background of watchmaking traders, Henri Perregaux began his career in the family business at an early age: he took over from his prematurely deceased father. But the business proved difficult, to the point that in 1860, the decision was made to liquidate the establishment. Henri then went into the service of his brother-in-law, Constant Girard-Perregaux. When the latter decided to open a sales office in the Americas, for a better grip on this enormous, promising market, it was Henri Perregaux that he called on to head it up.

In October 1865, our man set off for Argentina accompanied by his wife. He set up in Buenos Aires as the special agent of Girard-Perregaux in various North and South American States. From 1872, his remit extended to the West Indies. Henri Perregaux spent sixteen years of his life helping the Brand prosper, and come to the fore in all the American markets.

His mission accomplished, he returned to Switzerland in 1881 to take a deserved retirement.
