Girard-Perregaux unveils two new versions of the Quasar Light, a timepiece renowned for taking ‘transparency to the extreme’. This contemporary expression of Haute Horlogerie pays tribute to the Maison’s now-iconic three arrow-shaped bridges, patented 140 years ago. In common with its traditional antecedents, the Quasar Light 140 is equipped with a tourbillon but it also embraces modernity with its distinctive sapphire crystal bridges and case.

Quasar Light Tourbillon with Three Bridges

Bridging the past with the future

First released by Girard-Perregaux back in 2020, the inaugural Quasar, the Quasar Light, was housed in a colourless case formed of Swiss-made sapphire crystal. Moreover, it featured three clear Neo bridges positioned below a sapphire crystal box, masterfully playing with light and taking the idea of transparency to the extreme. After releasing the critically acclaimed Quasar Light, the Maison has since released additional references encompassing various tints, while still upholding the clear characteristics of the Quasar Light. For 2024, Girard-Perregaux perpetuates the Quasar story with two new versions of the Quasar Light. The clear housing and bridges afford views of a one-minute tourbillon. Set against a clear backdrop, the gravity-defying mechanism appears to almost float mid-air, bestowing an ethereal appearance. A blued hand sits atop a lyre-shaped cage, indicating the running seconds.
The Calibre GP09400

The Calibre GP09400

Through these crystalline walls, Calibre GP09400 reveals its openworked construction much like a star viewed with a telescope. This Haute Horlogerie movement draws the eye like a black hole and explodes with light, illuminating the gap between its components. Devoid of any opacity, Quasar allows photons to play freely across its matt surfaces and taut curves.
